A trip to the property in mid-November revealed an actual house--an amazing milestone.

In November of 2023, just a little over a year after we closed on the land, I was able to swing by the property to see an actual house for the first time.

The drive(way) up to the house and the mountain range in the background. Partly because the trees had already lost their leaves and so many had been removed, one of my immediate thoughts was how different the property looked. We will want to plant new trees as soon as possible.

My parents and I enjoyed checking out the layout. I am most excited about how the mountain range looks from this angle, right from the front entrance. It made me recall all of the time and extra money we spent in making the doors, windows and transom in the back side of the house as large as feasible. This is eastward looking and so the sun rises over this range.

This is the view from the basement, which will initially be unfinished. The ceilings are 14 ft. high which will be fantastic in creating a non-basement-like feeling, along with the large windows. The wall that is depicted here is temporary. The initial builder designed this as a load bearing wall, but it will be replaced with a more open engineered wall with support (previous post).
